Thiruvathirakali

Thiruvathirakali is a dance form performed by women on the day of Thiruvathira to the accompaniment of Thiruvathira paattu, folk songs telling tales of lovesick Parvati, her longing and penance for Lord Shiva's affection and Shiva's might and power. The sinuous movements executed by the group of dancers around a nilavilakku embody lasya or the amorous charm and grace of the feminine. The dance follows a circular, pirouetting pattern accompanied by clapping of the hands and singing. Today, Thiruvathirakali has become a popular dance form for all seasons.Thiruvathira kali is a typical dance form of Kerala.

Vishu

Vishu literally means equal, and in the festival context it connotes the completion of spring equinox. The festival is notable for its solemnity and the general lack of pomp. The festival is marked by family time, preparing colorful auspicious items and viewing these as the first thing on the Vishu day. In particular, Malayali seek to view the golden blossoms of the Indian laburnum (Kani Konna), money or silver items (Vishukkaineetam), and rice. The day also attracts firework play by children, wearing new clothes (Puthukodi) and the eating a special meal called Sadhya, which is a mix of salty, sweet, sour and bitter items.

Passion Fruit

The most common type of passion flower that bears edible fruit is Passiflora edulis. It has a white and purple bloom and the mature fruits are dark purple and egg shaped. The funny thing about passion fruit is that it will not ripen off the vine, so you have to wait until the fruit drops.Passion fruit is filled with a gelatinous pulp that's full of seeds. The seeds are edible, but tart. Scoop out the passion fruit pulp with a spoon and place it in a bowl. The yellow fruiting vine blooms April to November while the purple flowers in March through April. Nadan meen curry and Rice (Fish Curry Meals)

Kerala Fish Curry is a traditional Malabari dish and is a tad spicy curry. But, most importantly, it has a signature taste of kudampuli (Dried malabar tamarind) and curry leaves. Make it at home with my authentic recipe to make fish curry Kerala style with and without coconut. kudumpulli is also known as the fish tamarind or malabar tamarind. And, that gives this fish curry a very appealing taste and a slight tang and a smoky flavor. Fish curry meals is one best cuisine you can try for you lunch.

Kallummakai

Mussel- The word "mussel" is frequently used to mean the bivalves of the marine family Mytilidae, Mussels though are the most macho of regularly consumed shellfish. More substantial than oysters, they are rarely eaten raw, but are tamed by steaming, which also opens up their shells. Their meatily marine taste easily matches with spices and other strong flavours — it’s notable that the French, for all their suspicions of Indian spices, quite regularly use curry power in mussel dishes like mouclade.Perhaps the most common way of consuming them in Kerala is Arikkadukka, a toddy-shop favourite, which involves stuffing the mussels in their shells with a rice flour and spice paste, sealing and steaming them, and then removing and shallow frying them. Kozhikode Milk Sarbath

We can get Milk sarbath or Paal Sarbath in two ways. One is using Naruneendi syrup or Nannari syrup. The second one is using cardamom, sugar and vanilla essence instead of Naruneendi syrup. Both are very tasty and simple to make. Sometimes I use stored Cardamom sugar syrup to make milk sarbath instantly. Naruneendi syrup added milk sarbath is more beneficial for us, especially in summer and Ramadan days. Naruneendi cools our body, purifies the blood, good for skin and eyes. It has so many medicinal benefits and has no side effects. Chia Seed or Poppy Seed or Kas Kas also very good for Skin, Hair, and Health. They are oilseeds obtained from a flowering plant named Poppy. It prevents heart disease. Contains linoleic acid, which is an omega-6 fatty acid required for heart health. The seeds can also treat sleeplessness. The chia seeds offer so many other benefits too.

Unnakai

Unnakai (also called Unnakaya, Kai Ada, Unnakka, and Kai Porichathu) is a spindle shaped sweet dessert made chiefly of plantain. It originated from the Malabar region of India, and is often eaten at weddings, Iftar and other festivities. The main ingredient of this dish is steamed and mashed plantain, which is a staple in Kerala, India. The relatively dry puree becomes the dough, which is rolled and flattened into patties. These patties are stuffed with sweetened beaten egg, scrapped flesh of coconut, nuts, raisins and cardamom, a spice which is rolled into the shape of a spindle with oiled palm. The stuffed dough is then deep fried in coconut oil, and is either consumed as a snack or topped with sago-based white sauce so that it can be served as a dessert. Variations are made by varying the ingredients used in the filling. In certain parts of the region coconut is completely avoided, and the filling is made with just egg, sugar and nuts.
